Eurochange Travel Money Guide
Who Eurochange is for
Eurochange has been swapping currency in the UK since the 1990s. They run around 240 branches, mostly in shopping centres and high streets, with experienced staff who handle nothing but foreign exchange all day.
If you'd rather buy from a currency specialist than a supermarket counter, and there's a Eurochange near you, this is the right pick.
One thing worth knowing up front. Eurochange also runs the travel-money service for two big supermarket brands: M&S Travel Money and Morrisons Travel Money. Many of those M&S and Morrisons counters are actually staffed by Eurochange. So when you visit them, you're using the same rates, the same currency stock, and often the same staff you'd find at a Eurochange shop.
What you can buy and how
You have three main ways to get your currency from Eurochange:
- Walk into a branch. 240+ shops across the UK. Cash, card, full range of currencies on display.
- Click & Collect. Order online at today's rate, then pick up at any branch in about 60 seconds. You get the better online rate but still collect in person.
- Home delivery. Sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery, fully insured. Free on orders of £600 or more; £6 below that.
Eurochange also offers a Travel Money Card that holds up to 22 currencies, plus a buy-back service for any cash you bring home unused. The buy-back has an optional paid extra called the Buyback Guarantee, which fixes the rate Eurochange will pay you when you sell the cash back. If the pound climbs while you're away, you still get the rate you locked in. Most rivals don't offer this.
How Click & Collect works
Click & Collect is the route most online customers use. It's quick:
- Order online. The website rate is usually better than the in-branch rate, so this is the cheapest way to buy.
- Pick the branch you want to collect from, out of the 240+ across the UK.
- Pay by debit card. (Online orders are debit-only. Credit cards work if you pay at the counter in branch.)
- Wait for confirmation. It's almost always instant.
- Pick up at the branch within about 60 seconds, as long as the currency you ordered is in stock that day.
When you arrive, bring three things: the email confirmation (your phone screen is fine), the debit card you paid with, and one photo ID (passport, UK or EU photo driving licence, or national ID card). The ID check is standard for buying foreign cash in the UK; every bureau asks for it.
You can also order up to 7 working days in advance. Useful if you want to lock in today's rate but pick up later in the week.
Home delivery
If your nearest Eurochange is a long way off, home delivery is the alternative:
- Free on orders of £600 or more (one of the higher minimums in the market)
- £6 delivery fee below £600
- Royal Mail Special Delivery, fully insured up to the order value
- Next working day if you order before 3pm; orders before 1pm on Friday can land on Saturday
- Tracking at royalmail.com/track-your-item
One important rule. Eurochange will only deliver to the address registered to your payment card. You can't redirect it to a hotel, a holiday let, or a friend's house. Most rivals work the same way to prevent fraud.
What it costs
Eurochange charges no commission. The rate they quote is the rate you get.
The maximum order online is £2,500 in one go. Above that, call your local branch directly on 0333 240 1687. They can sometimes offer a better rate for the larger amount.
The number to remember: free delivery over £600. Below that you pay £6 to ship, which can eat into your savings on a small order.
The Buyback Guarantee is a paid optional extra. Most travellers will skip it. It's worth a look if you're going somewhere with a wobbly currency and you're worried about the pound moving while you're away.
How Eurochange compares to the UK market
What sets Eurochange apart isn't the size of the network. It's how much customers trust them. 25,208 Trustpilot reviews at 4.8 stars puts Eurochange on top of the UK travel-money market for customer ratings. The 230-branch network is mid-pack, but Eurochange also runs M&S and Morrisons Travel Money behind the scenes.
| Metric | Eurochange | UK market |
|---|---|---|
| UK branches | 230 (3rd of 10) | avg 579; leader Post Office (3,784) |
| Free home delivery from | £600 | avg £570; £500 is most common |
| Home delivery fee below that | £6.00 | typically £4.75 to £6.95 |
| Maximum online order | £2,500 | leader Travelex (£4,999) |
| Travel Money Card | yes (22 currencies) | offered by 5 of 10 providers |
| Trustpilot rating | 4.8 | market leader (avg 4.5) |
| Trustpilot reviews | 25,208 | the largest review base of any UK currency specialist |
In plain English: Eurochange isn't the biggest network in the UK, but it's the most trusted by customers. If you care most about ratings and reviews, Eurochange wins. If you care about having a branch on every high street, Post Office wins. Our comparison engine checks both, so you can decide what matters more for your trip.
When Eurochange isn't the right choice
A few situations where another provider serves you better:
- There's no Eurochange near you. 240 branches sounds a lot, but coverage is thin in some areas. Post Office has nearly 3,000 walk-in counters and reaches much further into smaller towns.
- You want home delivery on a smaller order. Below £600, you pay £6 to ship. On a £200 order, that wipes out a lot of your rate saving. Post Office charges £5.99 below £500 and starts at a £100 minimum, which works out cheaper for small orders.
- You want to pay by credit card online. Eurochange's online checkout takes debit cards only. Credit cards work at the counter, but if you want to pay by credit card without leaving home, try Sainsbury's, Tesco or Post Office instead.
Frequently asked questions
How quickly can I collect a Click & Collect order? About 60 seconds after you get the confirmation email, as long as the currency you ordered is in stock at your branch. Most orders are ready straight away.
Is the rate the same online and in branch? No. The online rate is usually better, especially on Euros and US Dollars in larger amounts. To get the online rate but pay in person, use Click & Collect.
Can someone else collect my Click & Collect order? No. The card you paid with has to match the photo ID at collection, so the person who placed the order has to be the one to pick it up.
How does Eurochange relate to M&S and Morrisons Travel Money? M&S Travel Money and Morrisons Travel Money both run on Eurochange's platform. Same rates, same currency stock, often the same staff at the counter. The branding differs and the prices can vary slightly between the three.
What's the Buyback Guarantee, and is it worth it? It's an optional extra you pay for at order time. It fixes the rate Eurochange will pay you when you sell back unused currency, no matter what the pound is doing when you get home. Worth it for longer trips or trips to countries where the rate is moving fast. Skip it if you don't plan to bring much back.
Can I get my home delivery sent to my hotel or a friend's address? No. Eurochange will only post your currency to the address registered to your payment card.
The verdict
Eurochange is a strong pick if you'd rather buy from a currency specialist than a supermarket counter. You get experienced staff, a wide range of currencies, the rare Buyback Guarantee, and pickup in about 60 seconds when you order online.
The catches: the online checkout only takes debit cards, and the £600 minimum for free delivery is one of the higher ones around. If neither of those matters for your trip, Eurochange is hard to beat on customer reviews.
If your nearest M&S or Morrisons has a Travel Money counter inside, you're already using Eurochange's setup anyway. Worth comparing today's Eurochange rate against the M&S and Morrisons rates as well, since the same engine sometimes quotes a slightly different price under each brand.
